Staying at 高野山 宿坊 普門院 -Koyasan Shukubo Fumonin- was a memorable experience. the rooms are clean, spacious, and warm, with beautiful views of the Japanese garden. I enjoyed the tasty communal meals and loved wearing the provided robes. the morning prayer ceremony felt special, and the monks were friendly and helpful, some even spoke good English. the shared bathing experience was unique and enjoyable, making it an authentic monastery stay.
It was crowded with tourists. Noise disrupted the serene atmosphere.

Great experience there. Traditional hotel, outstandingly accommodating staff, amazing food. Location just off Koyasan. Also, in the middle of jackson.

the room I stayed in, although small, was comfortable and warm. the shared bathroom was clean and well-maintained. the highlight of my stay was the exceptional dinner served in a large hall, accompanied by friendly and accommodating staff. I also had the opportunity to arrange a small memorial prayer for my father, with the help of the priest and the monk operating the ceremony. the location of the temple, right by the bus station, was convenient and the beautiful gardens added to the overall serenity of the experience.
Nothing to be said. 🔒

The staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful during my stay. The morning ritual was a great way to start the day and provided a unique cultural experience. The location boasts breathtaking views and easy access to nearby attractions.
The shared restroom was inconvenient and often crowded, with only one toilet for five guest rooms. the limited hours for using the baths made it difficult to fit into my schedule.

We spent our Christmas here and it was a truly unforgettable experience. the dinner offered was exceptional and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We particularly enjoyed the morning ritual and the amazing view from our room.
The restroom being outside the room was a bit inconvenient, especially since there was only one men's toilet for five rooms. the bath time was restricted to the evening and we were unable to take a bath in the morning, which was a downside.
